Hello, we are Dan and Sarah! Thank you for reading our story and learning more about us as possible parents.
We found each other online at a time when we both had work and family obligations and did not have much free time, yet we both decided to give online dating a try. After a week of communicating via the online app, we decided to meet as it was important for us to get to know each other in person. We met up for dinner and had a great conversation, which led to a few more dates before we decided to make it official. After dating for a year, Dan proposed! We found the perfect wedding venue, but unfortunately the next available date was a year and a half out. Luckily for us, a couple canceled at the last minute so we had an option to prepare for our wedding in just four months. We went for it! Everything fell into place and we were married in 2019.
Very early on in our relationship, we discussed the possibility of adoption as a way of growing our family. As a baby, Sarah’s mom (and her mom’s twin brother) was adopted, and this just felt right for us. After being married for a year we decided to try to grow our family. After three miscarriages we started to pursue the process of adoption. The week our home study was approved we discovered we were pregnant with twins, but unfortunately, the babies did not make it. After taking time to grieve these losses, we are excited to pick up where we left off on our adoption journey.
Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.
It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.
Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.
You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.
One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.
As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.
Each season is such a treat to experience. We love that we get to live in a state that experiences all four seasons. As spring is quickly approaching little glimpses start appearing. Some of the small crocus flowers are starting to pop out of the soil. The birds are returning and starting to work on their nests. We have small bird houses throughout the property and it is so special to see little birds peaking in and out as they fix up their home for the season. The sheep are truly enjoying the return of the sunshine. We snapped this photo of them just the other evening during feeding/visit time. They are such characters. We imagine she is smiling.
In the coming weeks Sarah will be hand shearing the sheep for the first time! We are just waiting for the temperatures to even out so the sheep are comfortable. We hope you are enjoying the return of the sun, and the beautiful colors to come.

We just finished spending Thanksgiving with both sides of our family. This year is special as we usually only spend a holiday with either side and rotate every year. This year since Sarah's parents moved closer, we got to have two Thanksgiving dinners and spend time with more of our family. With Sarah's parents we made fires in the fire place, helped cook and laughed over stories. Sarah made sourdough rolls, she has been enjoying exploring many sourdough recipies. Dan is photographed here cozied up with one of our dogs while the fire crackels. Sarah's sister and her Boyfriend came to join in the holiday festivities too. With Dan's side of the family we enjoyed a delicious meal, watched the movie "Ready Player One", and played "ticket to ride" one of our new favorite board games. We look forward to sharing these Holiday moments with a child. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Fall is one of our favorite times of year! Now nearing the end of October, the colors of all the foliage is in full swing, such a warm pallet. Sarah enjoys waking up early on the weekends that much more this time of year, sitting outside with a warm cup of coffee and watching the sun rise. When she walks to the sheep enclosure to let them out on pasture there is a stunning mist of fog lifting from the early morning frost. The colors are extra special this time of year. The image is from the wooded area near the sheep pasture. We are truly blessed to live in an area that is surrounded by nature. This weekend we are planning on raking the abundance of leaves that have already fallen. This is extra fun because the dogs love jumping in the big pile. The season of hauling wood to the front porch has begun, Dan enjoys using the tractor for this task. We had our first fire of the season in the fireplace, we love listening to the crackling and popping of the wood. We look forward to sharing these cozy moments with a child. We hope you are enjoying the beautiful blessings of fall.
